21st Century Schools White Paper

The vision for the 21st Century school is set out in the Children’s Plan and affirms that schools have a role in promoting the whole range of outcomes for children. We consulted widely on how to make this vision a reality, through a formal 3-month public consultation, a series of regional and national events, a series of focus groups with parents, carers and young people, and on-going dialogue with partners and stakeholders. All this fed into the 21st Century Schools White Paper, which was published on the 30th June.

  • The new messages are about schools discharging their role in partnership with other schools and services; taking their place at the heart of Children’s Trusts (CTs) to drive the local agenda for all children not just those on the school roll; responding to the needs of children and young people, their families and the wider community; and being held accountable across this broader front.
