Supporting choices 14-19
The 14-19 reforms aim to encourage young people to continue learning and gain the qualifications and skills they need to secure a sure future in education and employment. With the development of the Diplomas and expansion of Apprenticeships, young people have a broader than ever range of options. Good quality careers education and information, advice and guidance (IAG) is vital in helping young people make informed choices and build fulfilling and stretching learning pathways.
As part of a programme of national support, the DCSF publishes three free booklets to support choices 14-19. The booklets aim to provide young people and their parents/carers with easy to use and straightforward information about the full range of pathways, the steps they need to follow and the implications of their decisions. Schools can order these publications to complement the local online 14-19 Area Prospectus and other curriculum and personal support. The 2008-09 editions can be ordered now for distribution in the first half of the autumn term 2008.
Interactive versions of the publications will also be available on the internet at: www.connexions-direct.com |
