Connexions Direct Website

The Connexions Direct website allows young people aged 13-19 in England to access up to date, impartial information, on a range of teen issues, using media with which they are familiar, at a time of their choosing. This includes interactive and video presentations (CXDi), peer to peer comments, the Jobs4U careers database and online interactive versions of the It’s Your Choice and Which Way Now publications.

In addition a helpline support service for young people is available from trained advisers 365 days a year, via telephone, webchat, email and SMS text message. There are around 120,000 visits per week to the website and over 6,000 contacts to the helpline. Connexions Direct also provides support up to the age of 25 for those young people who have learning difficulties or disabilities (or both).

Connexions Direct is the DCSF’s main online and telephone delivery channel for impartial information, advice and guidance (IAG) for all young people when they need it. Connexions Direct enhances the face to face work of local young people’s IAG providers - local authority Connexions providers, or their sub contractors.  Local providers welcome and value the additional out of hours support and service offered to young people by Connexions Direct.

Featuring over 800 career profiles, the Jobs4U careers database is a consistently popular area of the Connexions Direct website.  Profiles feature written case studies from young people describing their job and career routes alongside links to other useful sources of information.  Articles are researched and updated regularly working with the Sector Skills Councils to ensure provision of impartial information across the range of industry sectors.
