Guarantees for pupils and parents
The Education Bill in the Queen's Speech set out 23 guarantees for pupils and 15 for parents. Many of the guarantees are about CEIAG including:
For pupils
- access to high-quality education and careers advice
- secondary pupils have a personal tutor who knows them well
- 14-19-year-olds can choose between apprenticeships, diplomas and GCSEs/A-levels
- Every pupil receives personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE) from September 2011
For parents
- parents get advice on career and subject choices open to their child
- parents can contact and meet a member of staff who knows their child well, including a named personal tutor in secondary schools
