Employment opportunities in Travel and Tourism
Transport Planning
Transport planning includes a very wide range of disciplines and covers everything necessary to tackle the nation’s transport problems and to plan and deliver our transport systems. The wide range of work is one of the big attractions. In fact, the work of transport planners touches almost every aspect of our day-to-day lives. Coach Tourism
There are 20,000 coaches on the road in the UK, and new ones cost up to £250,000. Coach operators employ over 50,000 people, and £1.15 billion was spent on coach touring holidays in 2008 – and this figure is set to grow in the future as more and more people are set to holiday by coach in the UK. One of the UK’s largest operators, Shearings Holidays, employs 3,000 staff, owns and operates 44 hotels and 8 high street travel shops.
