The National Apprenticeship Service update
The NAS have recently launched ‘Good for Business,’ a national campaign targeting the nation’s employers. The campaign aims to increase the number of opportunities for young people, by engaging with employers about the business benefits of Apprenticeships. Our objective is to ensure there are enough employer places offered so that Apprenticeships can become a mainstream option for 16-18 year olds and that an Apprenticeship place is available for all qualified young people by 2013. We have taken out national and regional press and radio advertising and are backing this up with direct mail, digital work and PR activity.
To help those working with young people in the classroom, the NAS is producing a Teacher’s Pack. It will include lesson plans and case studies and will soon be available on the campaign resources website: www.lsc.gov.uk/campaignresources
But it is not just about talking about Apprenticeships to young people in schools. It is also about offering Apprenticeships in schools. To do this the NAS are working with DCSF to show how an Apprenticeship can be a great way to start your career in education.
