Raising Aspirations – Raising the Participation Age
The DCSF commissioned SSAT to produce some Raising the Participation Age (RPA) teaching resources for practitioners working with young people, to raise aspirations among the first cohort to be affected by RPA and to develop young people’s ability to make education/training choices at 16 in the context of RPA.
The resources broadly break down into:
- A main module on RPA itself (lesson plans)
- Lesson plans on post-16 options
- Some supplementary information Diplomas in the context of RPA
- Briefing for staff on RPA, ideas for school events and information about applied and vocational learning for parents
- Suggestions about what practitioners working with young people can do to raise aspirations around post-16 participation
- Briefing for parents on RPA, and young people’s options in the context of RPA
- Some lesson plans around careers / labour market information.
