My role in school is Information Advice and Guidance Coordinator and I have the Level 4 NVQ in Careers Guidance. To top up my qualifications do I only need to do the three units QCF Level 6?

    Hi Dionne

It depends on what you mean by top up your qualifications! What is important to you now - becoming a registered career development professional and/or leading CEIAG in your school?

If you are interested in topping up your qualifications so that you can join the CDI professional register you would need to take the three specified QCF level 6 units which are: Career guidance theory, Reflect on and improve professional practice, Use career and labour market information with clients. This route to qualifying to join the professional register will close on 1st May 2016. There are alternative routes to qualification which you can read about in ‘UK Register of Career Development Professionals: The benefits and requirements of registration’.

The three units that make up the Certificate in Careers Leadership have been chosen because they equip career development practitioners and teaching and non-teaching staff to lead and manage CEIAG in the schools in which they work. Just to remind you, the three units are Lead and manage career development work in an organisation; Continuously improve career development work in an organisation and Plan and design career-related learning programmes.  The link for the CDI Certificate in Careers Leadership is: http://www.thecdi.net/Certificate-in-Careers-Leadership

    I hope this helps

    Best wishes
